NO MORE HUMAN SLAUGHTERHOUSES IN THE COUNTRY'S PRISONS, MOCHICA SUMPA PRESENTS A SOLUTION.
On July 27, 2021, the Mochica Sumpa Human, Eco-Environmental and Cultural Rights Corporation, through its representatives Carolina Mejía Hurtado and Alfonso Ortiz Cobo, delivered the report entitled «"No more human slaughterhouses"» addressed to the new Director of the National Service for Comprehensive Care for Adults Deprived of Liberty and Adolescent Offenders (SNAI), Retired Colonel Fausto Cobo.
In the report submitted to the SNAI, we expressed our concern about the management of the prison system, the control that organized crime has within the cellblocks, and the lack of an adequate rehabilitation process for incarcerated individuals. We also included our solution through the PENITENTIARY SYSTEM PROJECT – ECUADOR CONSORTIUM, a public-private partnership that seeks to provide an alternative solution to the serious problems in prisons through occupational therapy.
We are attaching our report for your information with the aim of making a constructive contribution to the improvement of the country's prison system.
